John A. Aytes of Mount Pleasant, SC, a maintenance supervisor at Westvaco died Sunday in a local Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross. Burial directed by Stuhr's will be in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Mr Aytes was born Dec 26, 1932, in Charleston, a son of Henry Burton Aytes and Agnes Norton Aytes. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Sullivan's Island, where he served on the church vestry and was a former senior warden.. He was a member of the Charleston Elks Lodge No 242 and was a Mason.
Surviving are his wife Helen Bishop Aytes, two sons, John A Aytes Jr. of Columbia and Steven C Aytes of Sumter; a daughter Windy Aytes of Mount Pleasant; two brothers, Henry B Aytes Jr. of Ladson and Michael L Aytes of Charleston; and a sister Rose A Hogg of Isle of Palms.
