WILLIAMS – Walter Williams, 79, of Rt. 2, Box 415, Oceanway, passed away at his home Saturday evening after a brief illness. He was a native of Nassau County and had resided In Duval County for 75 years. He was a member of the Second Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Williams: six daughters, Mrs. Julia Davidson, Mrs. Eva Barnhart, Mrs. Blanche Higginbotham, Mrs. Ruth Higginbotham and Mrs. Elizabeth Meyers, all of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Lydia Hayden of Orlando; two sons, Olin L. and H. D. Williams of Jacksonville; two step-sons, Charles H. Guest of US Navy and Charles Graber of New Smyrna Beach; one brother, F.D. Williams of Jacksonville; 37 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 2p.m. at the graveside in Eubanks Cemetery, with the Rev. J. W. Davidson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Otis T. Jones. Mr. Williams will lie in state at his home until 1 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be: C. C. Starret, L. C. Preston, Lawrence Ogilvie, Oscar Ogilvie, Johnny Breedlove and Dickerson Wright; active, Edward Davidson, Albert Meyers, Jr., A.D. Barnhart, Jr., Harry B. Johnson, Barney E. Douberly, Jr., and L. D. Douberly. Key-McCabe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Published in the Florida Times-Union November 28, 1951.
