From the Seymour newspaper--"LAST RITES FOR C.E. BARGER, 77, HELD AT GOREE" - Carl Edgar Barger, 77, a resident of Goree since 1925, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Baylor County Hospital in Seymour after an 8-day illnes. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday for the First Baptist Church in Goree with Rev. Carl Pool, pastor of the Foursquare Church in Weinert, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Benny Hagan, pastor of the Goree Baptist Church. Burial was in Goree Cemetery under the direction of McCauley Funeral Home. Grandsons served as pallbearers, Mr. Barger, a retired farmer, was born August 19, 1887, in Knoxville, Tenn., and was married to Zena Vaden on December 3, 1905, in Paris, Texas. She preceded him in death June 12, 1961. Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Fleeta Mayo and Mrs. Dixie Bradley, both of Goree, Mrs, Etta Mae Frazier of Midland, Mrs. Dorothy Williams of Pasadena, and Mrs. Barbara Coffman of Munday, three sons, Everett Barger of Goree, Norris and Jack Barger, both of Fort Worth; one brother, Bob Barger of Harriman, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He came to Goree in 1925. He remained in Texas after his mother and some of his siblings returned to Cocke Co. Tenn. He was living in Texas when his mother died.
