Mary Lou Sanchez, age 92, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011 at Mission Palms of Mesa Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Aug. 25, 1918 and was one of 13 children.

Mary Lou worked hard all her life. She could swing a sledge hammer, mix cement, roll a wheel barrow and then go home and cook a great meal for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing and the occasional trips to the casino. While living in Globe she was a member of Holy Angels Church community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank G. Sanchez; daughter, Barbara; and several of her brothers and sisters.

Mary Lou leaves behind her children, Jimmy of Phoenix, John Robert (Bobby) of Phoenix, Frank of Chandler, Rose Marie Santiago of Mesa, and Raymond of Mesa; her sisters, Eleanor Zazueta of Idaho, Mary West of California and Lilly Valenzuela of California; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at 8 a.m. at Holy Angels Church in Globe on Saturday, July 2, 2011, Rosary at 8:30 and funeral mass at 9 a.m. all at Holy Angels.

Interment will be at Globe Cemetery at a later date.
