Funeral Held

Funeral for Marcus J. Copeland, 90, resident of Howard County since 1919, was held at River Chapel at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Curtis Smith, assisted by the Rev. A. N. Trotter, officiated. Burial was in City Cemetery under the direction of River Funeral Home.
Mr. Copeland was born in Madison, Ark., Sept. 5, 1872. He came to Howard County in 1919 and farmed in the Hartwells Community. He had been ill since 1952 and died in a local hospital. He lived at 1403 W. 5th.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Ellen B. Copeland; two sons, Monroe Copeland and Charles Copeland, Big Spring; four daughters, Mrs. Mattie Grissom, Redbluff, Calif., Mrs. Loraine Robertson, Roundup, Mont., Mrs. Maggie McGary, and Mrs. Mary Frances Underwood, Big Spring; five step-children, Gerald Myrick, Indiana, A. C. Myrick, Big Spring, W. D. Myrick, Louisiana, Mrs. John L. Davis, Lawton, Okla., Joe Myrick, Big Spring; 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were B. W. Condron, Al Chandler, Claude Hendricks, Aubrey Goodwin, Neil Bryant, and R. L. Underwood.
