HOLLANDALE — Ernest Sidney Harper, 74 [sic 75], of Hollandale died Thursday morning at South Washington County Hospital here after an illness.

Funeral services were to be held at 3 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Hollandale. Rev. Max Parker was to officiate. Burial was to follow in Hollandale Cemetery. National Funeral Home of Greenville had charge.

Mr. Harper was a native of Simpson County and was educated in Braxton. He moved to the Delta in 1924 where he engaged in farming. Twenty years ago Mr. Harper moved to Hollandale and was employed with the Mississippi State Highway Department until his retirement. He was employed as a security guard at South Washington County Hospital for the past five years.

Mr. Harper was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hollandale.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ada Harper of Hollandale; two daughters, Mrs. Louise H. King of Clarksdale and Mrs. Kitty H. Keith of Hollandale; two brothers, Jack Harper of Indianola and Lee Harper of Belzoni; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Everett of Braxton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
