Rulon Dee Liddell, age 76, of Provo, Utah, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2007 with loving family members by his side.
Rulon was born March 16, 1931, to Abraham John and Mary Liberty Brundage Liddell, in Bridgeland, Utah. He spent most of his youth helping his father and brother maintain the 100 - acre family farm. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, where he was active in track. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married his first wife, Jacqueline Larson on September 6, 1957, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. They were married 16 years, during which time they had 4 children. They were later divorced. He married Faye Barney Everett on June 27, 1975. They were married for nearly 33 years. Rulon and Faye resided in Provo until the time of his death.
He learned the trade of welding at Brigham Young University. Rulon worked at Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Company for more than 37 years. He started as a welder, working his way up to General Foreman. As a welder, he would design and build projects such as horse and utility trailers, hay conveyers and other farm equipment in his spare time. He could make anything out of two pieces of steel and a welding rod. He was a loving father who would help his children and grandchildren out whenever they were in need.
Rulon had a contagious sense of humor. He could make anyone laugh. He was a wonderful storyteller. He was a hard worker and an honest man. Rulon was an avid sportsman. He loved spending hours fishing in his boat on Flaming Gorge Reservoir with his family. He also looked forward to the hunting season, where the men and boys in the family would form a hunting party and enjoy each other's company. He enjoyed riding horses and owned several during his life. After his retirement, he spent most of his days on the golf course with his wife. He would golf in Utah until the weather turned cold. They would then spend their winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona or Twenty-Nine Palms, California, so they could continue to golf.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Michelle Monson (Kent), Russell Dee (Michelle), Randall Dewain and Mindadee Porter (Boyd); step-children, Kelden Everett (Carol), Sharlee Spencer (Scott) and Zira Dee Hansen; his brother, Ronald (Carol); his sisters, Karen Opfar and Janae Brown; 31 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
