Clyde Seymour Beverland, 83, died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Lost Rivers Hospital in Arco, Idaho, from a sudden illness.

He was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Carmen, Idaho, to Seymour Alexander and Georgia Hazel Palmer Beverland. Clyde was raised and attended schools in Moore, Idaho, where he graduated from Moore High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served in the 38th Battalion during the Korean Conflict.

Following his service to his country, Clyde returned to the Lost River Valley, where he farmed with his father. During this time, he met Rubie Kelso, and they were married Dec. 18, 1953, in Moore. Clyde began his long career as an ironworker and was a member of the Iron Workers Local No. 732. He recently received his 50th recognition pin in July 2010. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Clyde loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, fishing, hunting, playing his guitar, spending time with the grandchildren and attending all their sporting activities. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving are his wife, Rubie Beverland of Moore; his children, Terrell (Janice) Techick of Idaho Falls, Pennie (Rob) Stauffer of Arco, Sheila Combe of California, Tracie (Garth) Blattner of Arco and Charlie (Shawn) Neidhart of Gillette, Wyo.; a brother, Dennis Beverland of Arco; a sister, Beth Ivie of Mackay, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Boyd; two sisters, Ila and Lila; and two grandchildren, Dax and Destrey Stauffer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Anderson Family Funeral Home, 2555 N. Highway 93 in Arco. Interment will be in Lost River Cemetery with military rites provided by the Harland Clendenin VFW Post No. 7137.
