Sister Adrienne Marie Giroux
CONCORDIA — Sister Adrienne Marie Giroux, 87, Nazareth Motherhouse, Concordia, died Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Nazareth Motherhouse.
Sister Adrienne Marie was born Marie Eugenie Giroux on Dec. 17, 1899, in Charny, Providence of Quebec, Canada. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on Dec. 26, 1925, and pronounced her final vows on Aug. 15, 1931. Her aunt, Sister Adrian Grison, was also a Sister of Saint Joseph of Concordia.
She spent most of her religious life as a teacher of music in Michigan, Kansas, Nebraska and Illinois. Her last active years, 1969-1976 were spent in Grand Island, Neb. She retired to the Nazareth Motherhouse in January in 1977.
A wake was Sunday at the Nazareth Chapel in Concordia. The funeral was Monday, the Rev. Roger Meitl officiating. Burial was in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
