Lewis Prescott died Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at his home, 148 Broadway, after an illness of about 10 days which followed an attack of grip. His age was 79 years and 10 months. He was a native of Portland, Maine.
Mr. Prescott came to Lawrence in 1850 and has since lived here. By occupation he was an engineer, and for 25 years was employed by Edward Page in his belting factory. For some years he had been retired from active business life.
He was an attendant at the Second Baptist Church. Mr. Prescott was a man of fine character and was universally respected. He was the father of eleven children, nine of whom survive: Mrs. Emily McGregor of Lawrence; Mrs. Elle Judkins of Nashua, New Hampshire; Mrs. Hattie Bale of Lawrence; George W. Prescott of Philadelphia; and John E. Lewis, Jr., Henry A. and Arther F., all of this city.
Funeral services will be in the family lot in the Bellevue Cemetery. Friends are invited without further notice.
