Charles (born Karl, near Posen, Prussia) was the first Busse son to immigrate to this country. He may have come on the SS America, arriving in Baltimore on Dec 12, 1888. He went to Independence, IA where he lived with relatives of his mother until his parents and younger siblings arrived in 1892.
