He was an active member of St Luke's Methodist Church where he taught over 12 years in the School of Continuing Education. Member of the Beacon Class, served on the Administrative Board of the church and several years had taught an adult church school class. Member of Soloam Masonic Lodge No 276 over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Elder Amend. Survived by 3 sons, Clayton E, of OKC; Chester E of Alexandria, LA; Bill D, of Edmond, OK. Also survived by his wife, Ann, of the home; and her son, Don Hanks, of Lubbock, TX; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Bruce, of Sterling, KS; a niece, who was like a daughter, Mariann McCutchen, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St Luke's Foundation or American Cancer Society. Services 2 pm Monday, St Lukes United Methodist Church, following private graveside services at Rose Hill Cemetery.
