James "Jim" Dodson Sr., age 64, a resident of Old Fort, passed away July 3, 2011, in a local health care facility.

He was the son of the late Mamie Lee Broadrick Dodson and Emmit Elisha Dodson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Jo Dodson, and his brother, Harlan Dodson.

He retired from Diamond Carpet Mill and was a member of Elkmont Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Sgt. James Dodson and his wife, Adisa, stationed with the U.S. Army in Romania; his daughters: Tami Gooden and Martha Dodson of Cleveland, and Patricia Hembree of Ohio; his sister, Sandy Elliot of Rome, Ga.; stepdaughter-in-law, Wendy Breedwell and her husband, John, of Old Fort; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, July 10, 2011, from the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Ronnie Ledford officiating.

Interment will follow in Short Creek Cemetery in McMinn County with Alex Hembree, B.J. Williams, Curtis Roberts, Travis Baldwin, Billy Rogers and Keith Goodner serving as pallbearers.
