NILES - Walter 0. Wakeman, 87, of 2415 S. Third, Niles, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday at the Michigan Skilled Care Center in Niles after an extended illness. He was a retired carpenter.

Born on July 31, 1890, in Lafayette, Ind., he had lived in Niles for 17 years, after coming from Millersburg.

Oh Feb. 11,1960, in Niles, he married Edith Lawhead, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter. Mrs. Chalmer Ryan of Mercedes, Calif.; a son, Wayne McCurdy of Bethesda, Md.; a stepdaughter Mrs. Dorothy Yost of South Bend, and two grandchildren.

Services will be at. 10 a.m. Saturday at the Weblsheimer North Chapel, 52803 U.S. 31 N., with Rev: Clyde B. Lehman, pastor of the South Bend City Church of the Brethren, officiating. Burial will be in the Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Wakeman was a member of the City Church of the Brethen and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
