Mrs. Adelphia Ann Adkins, aged 69 years, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. S.T. Tolston, at Hopewell, Va., Wednesday morning at 7:40 o'clock after an illness of five weeks. The body arrived here last night and was taken to the funeral apartments of Mr. E. Lee Cox, 402 Berkley avenue. Mrs. Adkins was a native of Edgecombe County, N.C., but had made her home in Berkley thirty years. She went to live with her daughter in Hopewell seven months ago. She was a daughter of the late Elias and Mrs. Mary Bradley and was the widow of Joseph Adkins.
Mrs. Adkins is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. Tolston of Hopewell; Mrs. Josephine Thomas of Washington, N.C.; Mrs. A.C. Ambrose of Knotts Island, N.C.; and a sister, Mrs. Lydia Bradley of Whitakers, N.C.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral apartments this morning at 10:30 o'clock by the Rev. B.L. Rhodes, pastor of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
