DAVENPORT — Graveside services for Roy C. Robinson, 92, of Davenport, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011, at the Davenport Memorial Park Masoleum Chapel. There will be no public visitation. Mr. Robinson died on Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
Roy Clyde Robinson was born on June 7, 1919, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Charles and Anna (King) Robinson. Following his obligations with the United States Army during World War II, he married Helen I. Guthrie-Downing in Lancaster, Mo., on May 31, 1955.
Mr. Robinson enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing and especially the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Davenport; a daughter, Sally (Randy) Behncke of Blue Grass, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Patricia Headley and her partner (Ruthanne Harstad) of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy (Kenneth) Hendley of Rockford, Ill., and Janice (Mike) Weir of Davenport; one son, Roy Jr. (Mary) Robinson of Davenport; two stepsons, Charly (Karen) Downing of Arlington, Texas, and Steve (Ellen) Downing of Andalusia, Ill.; one sister, Edna Thompson of Ottumwa, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Lois; five sisters, Adeline, Emma, Eleanor, Violet and Betty; and five brothers, Bill, Danny, Eddy, Jimmy and Frank.
