Ruth Karickhoff
Ruth Ilene Samples Karickhoff, 89, a resident of 309 Brandenburg St. in Belington, departed this life Friday, April 30, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Center in Belington. She had been in declining health for the past several months.
She was born Dec. 31, 1914, at Rock Cave in Upshur County, the daughter of the late Amos and Laura Samples. On Jan. 11, 1936, she was united in marriage to Philip H. Karickhoff, who survives at their home in Belington.
Mrs. Karickhoff is survived by one son, Dr. Alfred N. Karickhoff of Odessa, Texas; one sister, Pearl Hall of Chevrolet, M.D.; two grandchildren, Eric Karickhoff and Andrea Wade; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey and Michaela Karickhoff and Austen and Dylan Wade.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Dayton Samples.
She was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School, retired as assistant postmaster in Belington and was a member of Chapter 68 of the Order of the Eastern
Star and the Belington Presbyterian Church.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and on Monday until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted with the Rev. Dave Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Heavener Cemetery in Buckhannon.
