ABBIE BABCOCK DIES NEAR ELIZABETH AGED SEVENTY-NINE - MOTHER OF FORMER COUNTY SHERIFF - FUNERAL SERVICES AT GLENWOOD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH - Mrs. Abalonia (Abbie) Babcock, widow of Hiram Babcock, passed away Sunday afternoon at four o'clock at the home of her grandson, David Babcock, one and a half miles south of Elizabeth. Death was caused from a nine month's illness of a complication of diseases. Mrs. Babcock was born July 16, 1861, and was seventy-nine years, eight months and seven days of age. She was the daughter of the late Remigius and Rose Hillerich Bierly. She united in marriage to Hiram Babcock and to this union eleven children were born. Mrs. Babcock was a member of the Glenwood Presyterian Church and was highly esteemed by all her friends. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at Glenwood Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. John Welch. Burial was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Marion Quissenberry, James Wright, Walter Babcock, Robert Wright, Albert and James Leffler. Surviving are four sons, Harlan and Frank Babcock of Elizabeth, Howard Babcock of Louisville, Hillary Babcock of Barberton, Ohio, and two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Emma) Leffler of New Albany and Mrs. Earl (Bonnie) Wright of Nashville, Tenn. She also leaves twenty-seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one brother, John Bierly of Elizabeth. A son, Yandell Babcock, ex-sheriff of Harrison County, and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Quissenberry and Mrs. Elizabeth Doan, and two other sons, John and Remy Babcock, preceded her in death.
