FORT WORTH - John J. Welborn, owner of Welborn Custom Upholstery, died Sunday at a Fort Worth hospital. He was 66.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today in Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Laurel Land Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Welborn was a member of Polytechnic Masonic Lodge No. 925, Polytechnic Chapter No. 408, Royal Arch Masons, Polytechnic Council No. 336, Royal and Select Masons, and Moslah Shrine Temple. He was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite Mason, past high preist of the Polytechnic Chapter No. 404, past trice illustrious master of Polytechnic Council, and treasurer of Polytechnic Chapter and Council.

Mr. Welborn was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the 85th Seabees. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family suggests that memorials be made to a charity of choice.

Survivors: Wife, Dorothy Welborn of Fort Worth ; two daughters, Marsha Denman of Mansfield and Jareece Welborn of Fort Worth ; three sons, Johnnie Lee Welborn of Fort Worth , Jimmy Welborn of New Waverly and Gene Welborn of Crowley; stepson, Steven Peters of Fort Worth ; two stepdaughters, Chris Owens of Houston and Carol Dockstader of Benbrook; two brothers, Lewis Welborn and Billy Welborn, both of Fort Worth ; three sisters, Nancy Quesenbery of Burleson, Zela Dennis of Fort Worth and Jessie Simon of Ahoski, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
