John Payne Wheat, former resident of Indianapolis, died Saturday morning in Melbourne, Fla., following an extended illness. He has lived there about ten years. While Irving in Indianapolis, Mr. Wheat was employed with Indiana Bell Telephone Co. Surviving are his wife, Vada; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Gochenbach, Eau Gallie, Fla.; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Paul Greiwe, Mrs. Joseph Rooney, Mrs. Ernest Whitworth and Mrs. F. E. Zearbaugh, all of Muncie. Arrangements announced later.
