The Oklahoman, Wednesday, June 1, 1955:
W. B. Dodson, 70, father of Gene Dodson, assistant manager of WKY and WKY-TV, died Tuesday afternoon in St Anthony Hospital of cerebran thrombosis. He suffered his first attack three weeks ago, A retired heating and air-conditioning engineer, Dodson was born August 6, 1884 in Cowley County, KS. He moved to Woodward from Kansas in 1905 and worked there for the Prairie Pipeline Co, Before coming to Oklahoma City in 1937, he lived in Bartlesville, Skilook, Wewoka and Blackwell. He made his home here at 1417 NW 27.

From 1947 until 1941, he worked at the Douglas plant, and then became associated with the First National Bank Building in an engineering capacity. He was a member of the Christian Church and a 32nd degree Mason. Rites will be held Thursday at 10:30 am in the Hahn-Cook Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Other survivors in addition to his son, are his wife, Minnie Dodson, of the home; daughter, Mrs B. W. Prier, Wichita, KS; two other sons, Harold Dodson, 1104 NW 22, and Jay Dodson, Wichita, KS. The family requests that no flowers b sent, but that all tokens of esteem be espressed as contributions to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
