Mrs. Mary Gertrude Hatcher, 89, 319 N. Dill Street, widow of Charles O. Hatcher, died this morning at her residence following an extended illness.
An Indiana native, Mrs. Hatcher came to Muncie in 1917 from Logansport and for many years was employed in the cafeteria at the YMCA. She was a member of College Avenue United Methodist Church and its Philathea Class, Chapter 104, of the Order of Eastern Star; the Terry Club, Golden Rule Club and The National Association of Retired Federal Employees Auxiliary.
Surviving are a son, Raymond Hatcher, Muncie; two daughters, Mrs. Adiel (Olive) Hofherr and Mrs. Chalmers (Marjorie) King, both of Muncie; a sister, Mrs. William (Bertha) Kemp, Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Meeks Mortuary with the Rev. Allan Byrne officiating. Interment will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
