Peyton C. Clark was born December 9, 1827 in North Carolina, the son of Clara Ann and Unknown Clark. He was married three times: first to Rebecca Ballard on April 10. 1849, in Rutherford County, Tennessee; second to Mary Ellen Baxter Allen on July 19, 1866 in Greene County, Illinois; and third to Jane Moore on January 9, 1884, in Missouri. He died February 13, 1901 at the home of his daughter Martha Ann Clark Howard, wife of the Rev. John Allen Howard, in Sidney, Iowa.
