Jerome J. Sterner was born July 20, 1829, at Baltimore, Md., and died at his home in Aledo on March 26, 1917, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 6 days. He came to Illinois in 1856 and located in Little York and moved to Aledo in 1866, where he resided until his death. He was married to Nancy J. Galloway Dec. 1, 1859. To this union were born four children - A.L. Sterner, W.J. Sterner, Mrs. J.M. Maxwell, all of Aledo, and Eva M. Sterner, who died in 1872. Mrs. Sterner died in 1893. In 1895 he was married to Mrs. Bessie Tatro, who passed away in 1912. Mr. Sterner was a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Church in this city for many years. He leaves, besides his three children, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with other relatives and a large number of friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 1917, at 2:30 o'clock. Dr. F.E. Shult officiated. Interment was made in the Aledo Cemetery.
