I know very little about my grandfather, Charles Cary Adams. My grandmother, Gertie Pearl Moore-Adams and father, William Charles Adams, passed away when I was too young to fully appreciate the importance of our family's heritage. Therefore, I do not have much information about Grandfather Cary. If anyone is reading this, please email me any information you many have about him.

I do know that he was born in Rockford, Coosa County, Alabama, to William "Bill" Cidney and Annie "Laura" Allen-Adams. They had thirteen children:
Daughter - Lemmer Jan 29, 1886 -
Son - Grover Cleveland 1887 -
Son - William Rex 1889 -
Son - Charles Cary Sept 3, 1891 - October 28, 1952
Marion Alie April 24, 1893 -
Son - James Mote Jan 5, 1895 -
Daughter - Lucy Esten Jan 7, 1897 -
Daughter - Fannie Wood July 26, 1899 -
Son - Loyed Hastie? April 13, 1901 -
Son - Clive Dec 22, 1903 - Dec 22, 1903
Daughter - Lelia Myrtle Dec 18, 190? -
Daughter - Archie Alleen Jan 29, 1906 - Feb 11, 2002
Son - Jessie Hoyett Sept 14, 1909 -

Cary joined the Army in 191? and fought in WWI.

He married my precious grandmother, Gertie Pearl Moore, on June 21, 1928, in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas. They had their first child, Joyce Dell, on July 12, 1929. Being a farmer by trade, Cary moved his famiy to Rockdale, Texas, to farm there. They had their second child, William Charles (named after Gertie's father, William Price Moore, and Charles Cary). He was born on November 5, 1932.

When William Charles, Billy Charles as they called him, was about three years old, Cary and Gertie moved back to Gertie's farm in Frost, Navarro County, Texas. She had bought this farm from her father in 1923. So they decided to live there and farm and raise their family. In 1941, they had their last child, Lucy Ann Pricilla Adams, born April 23.

On August 11, 1946, Cary and Gertie officially joined the Frost United Methodist Church with their children and were long time active members in growing their church.

Grandfather Cary was able to share in the joy of his two older childrens' weddings. His beautiful daughter, Joyce Dell, to Robert Coolbaugh in Hillsborough, Hill County, Texas and his handsome son, William Charles, to Marcell Johnson in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas in February of 1952.

Charles Cary died of heart complications in the west Texas town of Lubbock. I have been told he was farming/cotton striping there at the time. How ironic that his only son, William Charles, also died in west Texas, farming land in the Pecos area twenty-six years later in November of 1978.

I do not know anything more about Grandfather Cary, but would love to learn more about him and his Adams family. So, I will leave it at.... more to come!
