John Wesley Lane was born in Madison County, Arkansas. He married Tressie Angeline Mayes on July 8, 1894. They had these children: William, Iris Ollie, Charles (and a twin who did not live), Amos, Grace, Kem and Don. They farmed in Washington County, Arkansas, near Goshen. Later they moved to Neosho, Missouri, and then to Plant City, Florida, where they lived until his death.
