CLINTON - Albert "DeMar" Mitchell (84) passed peacefully into the eternities on July 7, 2011 after a brave battle with cancer. DeMar was born December 23, 1926 to Joseph Albert Mitchell and Lavon Davis. He was a life-long resident of Clinton, Utah, a community he deeply loved. DeMar served his community in various ways throughout his life, including two terms as mayor. He loved America and was proud to have been in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in numerous callings and was the first stake president of Clinton. He and his sweet wife served two church missions, one in West Africa and the other in Hong Kong.

DeMar enjoyed being outdoors, but he especially liked hunting, fishing, farming, and gardening. His greatest love in life was his family, especially his wife of 65 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one son, Douglas D. Mitchell. He is survived by his sweetheart, Barbara Bonham Mitchell; his four daughters Sondra Mitchell, Lorraine (Steve) Roskelley, Joan (Mark) Palmer and Jennifer (Wayne) Hansen; and his son Mark (Nicole) Mitchell.

His faith, strength, guidance and love have always been freely given, and we know that it will never be far away.

A viewing will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy. Funeral services will be held beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Clinton Stake Center, 1288 W 1300 N Clinton where friends may visit with family from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, acts of service in your community or donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute can be made instead.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the caring professionals at Huntsman Cancer Institute and Rocky Mountain Hospice (especially to Deanne, our dear friend) and to the supportive friends in our community, ward, and stake.

Interment, Clinton City Cemetery.
