Harold Enoch Aarvig was born in the city of Pontiac, Ill., August 22, 1896, died October 18, 1918, age 22 years, 1 month and 26 days. Death caused by Spanish influenza followed by pneumonia.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of Pontiac. Educated in the city pulic schools and a graduate from the Pontiac township high school, class of 1914. He entered the services of the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois November 15, 1914, and remained with this company until April 23, 1916, going to Chicago and was then employed by the American Can Company and later accepted a postion with the Holmes-Pyett company, 159 North Jefferson Street. At present he was in the employee of the Sinclair Refining company in their general offices in the Conway building, Washington and Clark Streets, Chicago.

He was of a very cheerful and sunny dispostion, very energetic, with high ideals, having promises of a very bright future had he lived to a period of development.

He leaves to mourn his early life many friends, father and two sisters, Bessie L. and Ruth and two brothers, Lieutenant Truman and Corpral Bernard, now with the American Expeditionary Forces in Frances. His mother preceded him in detht September 14, 1904.

On account of the prevailing epidemic the funeral was private, held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ryerson, 521 North Chicago street, only relatives and close friends being present, among whom were Rev. L. Harrisville, Louise and Gladys Ryerson of Chiago; Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Chally, of Ottawa; Julius, Claude and Reinart Jonasson of Seneca; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Apland, of Elliott. The pallbearers were Stahley Faunt, Paul Zumbrook, LaVerne Campbell, Harley Jenkins, Herbert Clausen and William Seeley, fellow members of the Arcaiare club in Chicago.

Services were conducted by Rev. Harrisville of Chicago, assistd by L. H. Chally of Ottawa. The music was impressively sung by Miss Martha McCormick and Miss Etta Speers accompanied by Mrs. Grace Bone; also a solo by Miss Eva Shay.

The beautiful day did much to lessen the gloom of sadness cast over the family as it reflected the bright sunny disposition of the young man. The sunshine and cheerfulness of his nature will be a lasting memory in his home and with his relatives and associates.

Beautiful floral offerings expressed the kindly ewsteem in which he was held by his relatives and fiends.

His brother, Truman died a week before Harold did. : Not sure if from Spanish Influenza or if he was killed in action. They list him as a survivor, so they probably didn't even know yet. :(
