Born August 20, 1972, in Montreal, Quebec, he was a son of Douglas and Beverly (Schrader) Hazell, Bible Hill.
Kevin worked as a painter for himself and also worked with his brother, Doug, for a number of years. An avid outdoorsman, he loved the beach, vacationing in and driving around Nova Scotia and spending time at the cottage in Brule.
Kevin found great joy in spending time with his family and friends and he cherished all the special times he shared with Heidi, to whom he devoted his life. He had a passion for animals and children and held a special place in his heart for his cat, Jayden.
Along with his parents, Kevin is survived by his common-law wife of 22 years, Heidi Louise Edwards; brothers, Doug Hazell (Shannon Mercer), Debert; Grant Hazell (Melanie Donnelly), Dartmouth; Victor (Keri) Hazell, Belleville, Ontario; sister, Lisa (Dale) Marshall, Belleville, Ontario; parents-in-law, David and Judy Edwards, Truro; brother-in-law, Vance Edwards, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Nicole (Kevin) Seamone, Halifax; Shannon Newcombe (Gordie Lunn), Truro; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Heather Edwards; nephew, William Douglas Hazell; niece, Samantha Mercer; cousin, Jennifer Hazell; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Kevin's family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m., Monday, July 4, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011, Pastor Ken Fillmore officiating. Interment in Camden Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Kevin's memory to Canadian Cancer Society are welcomed.
