Jessie Davis, 93, of Sandusky, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at his residence. He was born on Aug. 23, 1917, in Anderson, S.C. He worked for Brown Industry and construction for Ohio Road and Paving Co. Jessie was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sandusky, and loved singing gospel songs. He is survived by his son, Ervin L. Davis of Toledo; sister, Mattie Clark of Sandusky; grandchildren, Keith Davis, Takesha Davis, Felicia (Juan) Perry, Ramon Johnson and Shannon Davis; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mildred Morris and Pastor Mary Davis; cousins Viola Hill, Clifford "Dook", Joe and Jim; special friends, Sophia Monegan, Aznor "Steve" Shaw, and Virginia Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorrine (Gains) Davis; parents, Tommy and Hattie (Hill) Davis; daughters, Dorothy Davis and Mattie Davis; grandson, Curtis Davis Sr.; sisters, Annie Stowers, Alice Davis, Elease Henry and Rosa Lee McDaniel; brothers, Rufus Davis, Robert Davis, and James Davis. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011, until funeral services at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. The Rev. Clayton E. Howard will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
