YORKTOWN - Mary Kelly Ragsdale, 92, a native of Freeman, N.C., and resident of Virginia, with family by her side went home to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, July 4, 2011.

Mary was the wife of a pastor and church planter that traveled throughout the state of North Carolina, before moving to Virginia in 1959. While in Virginia, she worked at J. M. Fields Department Store, for many years, in the dress department. She was a member of Parkview Church of God in Newport News. She was a loving and godly wife and mother. Mary will always be remembered for being an "excellent southern cook" to include chicken and dumplings, potato salad and homemade pies. She enjoyed raising her children, tending to the family garden and canning what she raised. Mary dedicated herself as a Christian example through living a daily walk with the Lord.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, the Rev. Colin J. Kelly; and later in life her second loving husband, James C. Ragsdale; a grandson, Gary Kelly; her parents, Robert J. and Mittie Walker; three brothers and one sister.

David A. Kelly Sr.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a stepson, James W. Ragsdale and wife, Gloria; a brother, King D. Walker; and a sister, Martha Holmes.
