She was born on January 10, 1912, in Le Sueur County, Minn. to Fred and Theresa Harder. Mildred was united in marriage on January 28, 1931, to Verle E. Cross and to this union five children were born. She lived most of her life in the St. Croix Falls area. She loved flowers and had beautiful flower gardens around her home.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Verle E. Cross; her son, Harvey V. Cross; parents Fred and Theresa Harder; sisters Mabel Spangler and Ethel Paulson; brothers George Harder and Fred Harder Jr.; granddaughter Julie Ann (Thompson) Nussbaum; great-granddaughter Alyssa Kae Plum; daughter-in-law Gwen Cross; and special friend Kermit Wolf.
She is survived by her children, Doris (Jim) Thompson of St. Croix Falls, Lyle (Patricia) Cross of St. Croix Falls, Iver Cross of Barron , and Donna (Doug) Brown of North Branch, Minn.; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Agnes Harder, and nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 14, at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Croix Falls with Pastor LeRoy Kaminski officiating. Pallbearers were Tom Thompson, Roger Plum, Randy Church, Jim Brown, Don Brown and Jim Rod. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Porter, Terry Cross, David Cross, Laura Bronoel, Theresa Nissen and Earla Lapham.
Interment was at the Cushing Cemetery in Cushing.
