Last week the Journal reported the sad news of the death of James Desmond at Los Angeles, California, where he had recently gone with his wife for treatment for cancer. Mrs. Desmond arrived Tuesday with the remains and the funeral was held from the Catholic church,(in Buffalo) Rev. John Gminer conducting the services. He spoke in the highest terms of Mr. Desmond, referring to the large number present to pay their last respects to his memory as a tribute to his worth and the esteem in which he was held in the community, where he had resided for forty years, eight of which had been spent in this village. Mr. Desmond had many relatives and a host of friends here and his demise is recognized as a great loss to the community. At the church Requiem Mass was celebrated by Father Gmeiner and Father Savey of Maple Lake and charge of the singing.

The casket was covered with beautiful floral tributes, one having been presented by the W.R. C. Ladies; Mrs Desmond being a member of that order.

The remains were taken to Maple Lake for interment in the Catholic Cemetery.

(An obituary was to have been furnished to the Journal by one who is conversant with the details, but it has not been received)
