His grandfather Ole Bolkan came with Harland's great grandparents to America from Trondhjem, Norway in the 1860s with Harlan'ds Great Uncles GP, Christopher, Martin and Great Aunt Anna Bolkan.
Harland came to California with his parents between 1920-1930s to the Santa Barbara area where they all lived out their lives. Harland and his parents were each buried in this cemetery with their eternity spent together.
Harland was survived by his Uncle Gustavus Bolkan and nine first cousins from Clackamus, Oregon. His Great uncles/aunt and 41 first and second Bolkan/Endrud cousins from North Dakota mourned his passing. Third/fourth cousins from Wisconsin include Dorr, Keen, Andrews, Best, Knapp, Nimm that continue to carry on the Norwegian roots forever.
