BELOVED CITIZEN LUFKIN CALLED TO REWARD THIS MORN

One of the highly respected and beloved women of the city was called to her eternal reward this morning when the Dread Summons was answered by Mrs. Nettie Cook, wife of J. A. Cook, who passed away at the family home between Lufkin and Keltys after an illness extending over a couple of weeks.

This highly treasured wife and mother and grandmother was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, moving to Angelina county early in life, and had she lived to June 19 of this year she would have been 65 years of age. She had spent virtually of her life in Lufkin, where she was possessed of a large circle of admiring friends and acquaintances, and where that Christian influence that marked her life throughout, left its mark and imprint upon the sons and daughters, and grandchildren that delighted in paying her that tribute of love and deference that her devotion to them called for in such a plenteous measure.

The deceased is survived by her husband, J. A. Cook, well-known carpenter, a member of the Cook Brothers Manufacturing plant that operated in Lufkin many years ago and highly regarded citizen; 3 sons, O. S. Broyles of Houston, J. A. Cook and A. B. Cook of Lufkin; 2 daughters, Mrs. J. E. Russell of San Antonio and Mrs. A. P. Sullivan of Houston; 4 brothers, C. H. Barron of Center, W. G. Barron of Timpson, Adolphus Barron of B__ville and Presley Barron of Harlingen; and 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The services will be held at the home of a son, A. B. Cook, on the Lufkin-Keltys highway tomorrow, (Sunday) afternoon with the services conducted by Rev. J. N. Wooten, pastor of the Christian church, of which denomination the deceased had been a faithful and conscientious and beloved member for many years. Interment will take place in the Walker Cemetery.
