Floyd B. Branthafer, 89, Martinsville, loving husband of Helen L. (Wade) Branthafer passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at the Morgan Hospital & Medical Center. Sadly missed by his family and friends, we celebrate his birth of May 12, 1922 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, to his parents Ernest and Edith (Kellar) Branthafer. Floyd was a production worker at RCA in Indianapolis for many years and he was a member of the River Valley Christian Church at Martinsville. Floyd gave his all in service to our country with Merill's Marauders in Burma. He suffered for our freedom and we are truly grateful. Survivors include his beloved sons, Michael and wife Connie of Speedway and Gary and wife Janice of Mooresville; his granddaughter, Rachel Blackridge and husband Danny; great granddaughter, Cadence Blackridge; and brother, Bill Branthafer and Priscilla (thank you). He was also preceded in death by brothers, Guy, James and Clifford; sisters, Kathryn, Margaret, Mildred and Shirley. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Norman Able officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Costin Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
