Larry Kelchen, Jr., 38, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2002, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins, with military rites. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2002, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife Brenda; two sons, Zachary Croix, age 9 and Cody Jess, age 7, both of Cedar Rapids; his parents; Larry (Betsy) Kelchen, Sr. and Sharon (George) Frondle, all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Michelle (Leroy) Hatfield of Tampa, Florida and Marcia (Scott) Goodell of Cedar Rapids; his paternal grandparents, Frank and Leona Bruce of Marion; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Miller of Marion; and numerous stepbrothers/sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ernest Miller and Aloysious Kelchen; and an aunt, Carol Smola.

Larry was born March 25, 1964, the son of Larry and Sharon (Miller) Kelchen, Sr., in Monticello, Iowa. He served with the United States Army from 1984 to 1988 and was recalled during the Gulf War. On January 30, 1999, he married Brenda Everett in Cedar Rapids. Larry worked for Reinhart Food Service as a transportation manager. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson, golf, music and spending time with his family and friends. Larry will be deeply missed by all.
