Orin Asel, son of Asel and Mary Jane Chase, was born Jan, 2, 1968 in Henhy County, IL while young he moved to Pawshick Co., Iowa where he met and wed Mary Elizabeth Dodd. To their union were born seven children, four sons and three daughters. Four sons and one daughter survive him. Two daughters Etta Mae and Lillian, died very young. He also leaves thirty-five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

In 1916 he with his wife and one daughter moved from Iowa to Beaver Crossing, where he lived until January 12 of this year, when he went to stay with his son Clarence and family.

He passed away there June 11, 1948 at the age of 87 year, 5 month and 9 day. His wife preceded him in death October 17, 1944. Since then he lived alone, as long as health permitted.

Surviving children are Ray of Elsinore, Calif, Clarence of Friend, Nebr., Asel Wood of Moosejaw Saskatchewan, Canada, Harry of Mountain View, Wyo. And Mrs. Larene Price of Londenville, Ohio.

Funeral Services, conducted by Moore Funeral Home of Friend were held June 14, in the Christian Church in Beaver Crossing, Rev. Embree of Friend officiating.

Three songs, “In the Garden”, The Old Rugged Cross and Does Jesus Care, were sung by Mrs. Chas. Gentry and Mrs. Guy Miller, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Paul Houchen.

Pall Bearers were L.C. Utterback, Grant Clark, Norval Crowder, Viggo Dorffler, George Whitson and Otto Hampp.

Burial was in the Beaver Crossing Cemetery.
