GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Raymond L. Sylvester, 80, died April 5, 2004, at Indian River Nursing Home.
He was born March 13, 1924, in Weathersfield, Vt., the son of Thomas and Melvina (Delise) Sylvester.
He worked as an automotive technician at Manchester Ford in Manchester, Vt., for many years. After retiring he did maintenance work for businesses including Hillview Adult Home in Granville.
Mr. Sylvester served in the U.S. Army as a courier during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth (Fellowes) Sylvester; two sons, Raymond Sylvester of Claremont, N.H., and Ralph Sylvester of Poultney, Vt.; two daughters, Laura Papps of Hartford and Linda Champney of Granville; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Armond Sylvester and Octave Sylvester; and a sister, Delia Johnson.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Granville with the Rev. Thomas Zelker officiating. Burial will follow in GBH Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville.
