Per his Death Certificate, Claude died from carcinoma of sigmoid colon with perforation. He is the son of William Bateman and Julia Lagenour.

OAKTOWN, Ind. - Dec. 5:

Claude Bateman, 45 years old, R R. 1, Oaktown, died at 5 o'clock this evening at the Mary Sherman Hospital in Sullivan.

He is survived by the widow, Thelma; three daughters, Misses Avis, Doris, and Marjory Bateman, all at home; a sister, Mrs. Hulda Willhite of Elnora; and six brothers, Lewis and Cleo Bateman, both of Oaktown; Sherman and James Bateman, both of Washington, Ind.; Willis Bateman of Phoenix; and C. C. Bateman of Los Angeles. The body was taken to the Schulze Funeral Home.
