Assigned 8/30/1861 to guard prisoners to Richmond.
Listed on Sept & Oct 1861 Roll as on special duty as Chief of Police for Camp Dickens at Manassas, VA.
Promoted 7/1/1862 to 1st Lieutenant.
Listed on Nov & Dec 1862 and Jan & Feb 1863 Rolls as sick and given a furlough with a 30-day extension from 2/12 but died soon after.
The 21st Mississippi Infantry Regiment was organized in October, 1861, using the 1st (Brandon's) Mississippi Infantry Battalion as its nucleus. It was mustered into Confederate service at Manassas, Virginia. The men were from the counties of Warren, Hinds, Claiborne, Lafayette, Tallahatchie, Madison, Holmes, and Union.
