Robert was born to Louis Arlington Strader and Gladys Naomi (Goforth) Strader. He married Lois Marie Huttinger, daughter of Arthur Lawrence and Sophia Cecelia (Turcotte) Huttinger.

(Age 84) Bob passed away December 3, 2010 in Spokane, WA. He was born December 11, 1925, the youngest of four sons, to Louis Arlington, and Gladys Naomi Goforth Strader in Barnard, MO.

He attended elementary school in Barnard and started high school in Maryville, MO. He moved to Glasgow, MT where he was active in athletics and played on the high school basketball team. In high school he continued to show an interest in aviation and acquired the nickname Prop Wash. Bob graduated high school in 1943.

Bob served in the United States Army Air Force from July 17, 1943 until October 31, 1945. He also served in the National Guard. He worked for the Army Corp. of Engineers and the railroad in Montana. Bob proudly received his pilot license in 1946. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol for 15 years. He was active in flying his entire life including building an experimental airplane in his retirement.

He owned several different planes and enjoyed a brief career as an "Air Show" announcer. He enjoyed the Reno Air Races with the Lickety Split and Sheeba air crews. His aviation friends wish Bob blue skies and tailwinds.

He was the floor manager at a roller skating rink in Great Falls, MT when the love of his life rolled into his heart. Bob married Lois M. Huttinger December 23, 1951. They have five children, seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bob was a resident of Spokane since 1953. He retired in 1989 after 32 years with the Washington State Department of Transportation as an engineer. He was a member of the North Hill #210 Masonic Lodge. He participated and supported many aviation interests. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association from 1970 to 2001. He volunteered with the Little Eagles giving children free rides.

He enjoyed many years of volunteering at the Fairchild Heritage Museum. He was a long time supporter of Moody Aviation. He contributed to the Union Gospel Mission and local area churches. He was an honorable and giving man who supported many causes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Alan Clay, and Billy Paul.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 17, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers at Bob's request, donations may be made in his name to Moody Aviation or the Union Gospel Mission.
