James was the son of William and Mary (Williams) Bruns. He married Beatrice Marie Paumen on April 26, 1949 at St Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake (Wright), MN. Together they had 4 children: Carl, Jerry, Robert, and Rose Mary.

James H. Bruns, age 94, of Maple Lake died Friday, March 26, 2021 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery in Maple Lake. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday, both at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake. The service will be live streamed on the funeral home's website.

James Herbert Bruns was born July 16, 1926 in Maple Lake to William and Mary (Williams) Bruns. He attended a country school in rural Maple Lake. On April 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Marie Paumen at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake; they were blessed with 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Jim worked as a welder for 22 years at Farmhand in Hopkins and for 20 years at Jacobson Machine in New Hope; he retired in 1991. In retirement, he worked part time at Cedar Engineering in Maple Lake until the age of 82. He could fix, weld and repair anything that was thrown his way. He enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Carl Bruns of Albertville, Bob (Lori) Bruns of Maple Lake and Rose Mary (Kirt) Hinz of Annandale; daughter-in-law Charolyt Bruns of Annandale; 9 grandchildren, Vicki (Chris) Rasset, Jody (Peter) Norgren, Joe (Terra) Bruns, Kristi (Chris) Thomas, Ashley Bruns, Luke (Alexa) Hinz, Heather (Brady) Karau, Crystal Jo (Josh) Larson and Shannon (Jeff) Meissner; and 19 great grandchildren, Hunter, Ryan, Emily, McKenzie, Nathan, Sydney, Myles, Tyson, Rylee, William, Leighton, Marshall, Hayden, Levi, Maci, Max, Ava, Wyatt and Holiday. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Bruns; wife, Beatrice Bruns; and son, Jerry Bruns.

The pallbearers will be Joe Bruns, Luke Hinz, Ryan Rasset, Hunter Norgren, Nathan Rasset, Chris Rasset and Peter Norgren. Krista Elsenpeter and Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service.
