John William (J.W.) Hughes was born August 15, 1949 to William (Bill) and Edna (Edson) Hughes at Superior, Nebraska. John passed away July 3, 2011 at the Exeter Care Center after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 18 days.

John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Superior being baptized August of 1959. He attended and graduated from Superior Public School in 1967. John worked for 39 years for BNSF railroad starting August 3, 1970 working as a laborer, and he took early retirement September 1, 2009. John married Linda (Marget) on October 21, 1972 at Fairmont, Nebraska and to this union two children were born. John enjoyed watching the History Channel, reading, and smoking his pipe along with having special times with family.

John was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother Jim Hughes; brother-in-law Bill Rogers; and his father-in-law, Buster Marget.

John is survived by his wife, Linda (Fairmont); his son, Austin (York): daughter, Alice (Fairmont); sister, Bev Rogers (Superior); sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy & Don Kottmeyer (Hardy); sister-in-law, Dianna Hughes-Epp (Hickman); mother-in-law, Martha Marget (Fairmont); sister-in-law, Marge Marget (Geneva); brother-in-law and wife, Jim & Annette Marget (Fairmont); brother-in-law and wife, Bill & Wanda Marget (Fairmont); brother-in-law and wife, Don & Jessie Marget (Fairmont); brother-in-law and wife, Jerry & Rachel Marget (Western); nieces, nephews, co-workers, friends and acquaintances.

Burial was in The Fairmont Cemetery, Fairmont, NE.
