Lucille (Celie) Stroud, 90, went to join her heavenly "Fly-Boy" on March 29.
She was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, on a hot summer day June 28, 1919. Her parents, Louis and Manie (Nee) Keller Stieler, preceded her in death.Lucille spent her early years in the Texas hill country. She later moved to San
Antonio where she met her future husband, Conley B. Stroud Jr. They were married during World War II in Victorville, Calif. Celie and C.B. had two children from
this terrific union,
Together they had a wonderful 30-year career in the Air Force. They lived overseas and in many states in the continental U.S.
Their final retirement was in Cheyenne, a place they both adored.
Celie's main interests were her great friends, golf and very competitive bridge.
Celie's last days were spent at Life Care Center of Cheyenne, being cared for by a loving staff. She also had a constant companion and amazing listener, Shani
Anderson, who made her last days fantastic.
Celie had many people who helped her greatly after her husband's death. Mike and Judy Sullivan and Charlene Nation provided strength and encouragement when she needed it the most.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Gary J. Ruzicka celebrating.
Celie and C.B. will be interred together at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at a later date.
