Ralph Ellsworth Rogers, Jr., "Buddy" passed peacefully at home on October 8, 2008, after losing his battle with cancer. Born November 27, 1940 to Ralph Ellsworth Rogers, Sr. and Margaret Alice Branson in San Antonio, TX where he lived most of his life until moving to Floresville, Texas in 1997. He graduated from Jefferson High School before attending Electronic Trade School. From 1962-1965 he was aboard the U.S.S. Constellation & U.S.S. Ranger serving two tours in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge he worked at Kelly Air Force Base as an electronics technician, inspector and environmental specialist. He retired in September 2000. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing with his family and playing pool with the VFW and American Legion Leagues. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races feeling "The Need For Speed". He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jesus and St. Joseph have gained another Master Craftsman. He is survived by his wife, Norma; his son, Jeremy and wife, Elizabeth; son, Mark and wife, Amy; son, Matthew; grandchild, Elisabeth Rose; sister, Nancy; numerous nephews, nieces and in-laws; as well as his pet, beta fish "Kemo". The visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 12, 2008 with the rosary starting at 6 pm at the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville, Texas. The mass will be at 9:00 am on Monday, October 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by interment at Fort Sam Houston at 11:15 am. The officiant will be Fr. Phillip Henning: pallbearers will be his sons, Jeremy and Mark, brothers-in-law, Richard and Bobby Duran, life-long friend, Mike Pena and nephew, Dean Schoppe. Honorary pallbearers are Gil Campos, Gene Nugent, John Bosquez and Al Estrada. In lieu of flowers the family request that a donation be made to your charity of choice. The Rogers family would like to express our appreciation for all the prayers and support given to them during this past year. Special thanks is given to Kelly Aviation Center, Nurses In Touch, Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Scheppler, Dr. Bell, Dr. Hollimon, Dr. Harroff and the Admissions and Oncology Department at Northeast Baptist.
