HOWE

Howe, Clayton F. Jr. age 71, of 310 S. Jefferson, Sturgis, died April 8, 2003 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, MI.

He was born March 29, 1932 in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Clayton F. and Elizabeth (Qwilt) Howe.

In May of 1951 he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the military until discharged in September of 1964.

On July 3, 1966 in Niles, MI, he married Naomi E. Mazer. While living in Niles he was manager of Fickes Photo Shop and was also a professional photographer. In 1971 he moved to Sturgis and worked as a manager at the Radio Shack Store, and also later managed the Radio Shack in Bronson until his retirement.

He was a member of the American Modelers Association and the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. His life long passion was about airplanes; he loved to build them, study them, and any chance he could get, fly in them.

Surviving are his wife, Naomi Howe of Sturgis; 3 children, Debbie Abbott of Atlanta, GA, Steven Howe of Pensacola, FL, and Clayton F. Howe III of Panama City, F; one step-daughter, Mary Ellen (Richard) Worley of Sturgis; one step-granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Worley of Sturgis; one brother, Buryl (Bud) Howe and wife, Mary of Portage, MI; and one sister, Mildred Pritchard and husband, Michael of Kalamazoo, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Irons and Margaret Byas.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI at a later date to be announced.
