Evelyn L. Knapp, 89, of Battle Creek, died Sunday November 30, 2008 at Laurels of Bedford.
She was born on September 25, 1919 in Homer to Ervin and Ila (Longworth) Mench. Her marriage to Cecil L. Sweet ended in divorce. Evelyn then married Frank E. Knapp on December 22, 1963 in Angola, IN; he survives.
She was employed by the Kellogg Company for 14 years and later at Flashes Publications in Allegan with her husband Frank for 10 years.
Evelyn is also survived by daughters, Shirley A. (Glenn) Brail of Marshall, Barb J. (John) Townsend of Bellevue, Sandy K. Kelly of Battle Creek, and Linda L. (Max) Gay of Delton; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Frank (Wilda) Mench of Galesburg, Carl (Louise) Mench, and Roy (Anna) Mench, both of Athens.
She was preceded in death by a son, Frank L. Knapp and daughter, Lorri J. Davis.
She enjoyed feeding the humming birds, music, and playing the organ, piano, and dulcimer. Evelyn was a loving, positive person who saw the best in everyone.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice.
