Elsie Fern Lewis
October 26, 1925 to March 2, 2011

Elsie Fern (Maxwell) Lewis of St. James, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Fern was born on October 26, 1925, and was a life-long resident of Phelps County. She was united in marriage to her loving husband of over 68 years, Clyde E. Lewis, on August 29, 1942.

Fern was a homemaker who enjoyed preparing and canning the bounty from her husband's garden and was well known among family and friends as a good cook. She also received great pleasure both from her hobby of quilting and from making gifts of those quilts to her beloved family. Besides active membership in quilting clubs, she faithfully served many individuals and families through her church. Fern was a devout believer who touched the hearts of many with innumerable kindnesses and generosities. She had a great respect for the dignity of every person and was much loved for her gentle ways. Heaven's generous loan of this shining star to the world for over 85 years is much appreciated, but for all who are still here, Fern will be greatly missed.
