William MiloFannin 1925 ~ 2003 William Milo Fannin, 78, died October 31, 2003 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. Milo was born July 19, 1925 in Pocatello, ID, to Moses and Cora Skaggs Fannin. He was number 14 of 15 children born to his father, and number nine of 10 born to his mother. Milo was adept at most any sport, a valued football player, runner, swimmer, rifleman, hunter and fisherman. He joined the United States Navy on July 14, 1943, enlisting in the Submarine Service where he served until March 23, 1946. He received several medals and citations, one of which was the Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary heroism in action against the Japanese forces. He married Donna Johnson, Sept 22, 1945; later divorced. They had four children, two boys and two girls. He married Betty Scholfield. Most of his working life he was employed as a dry cleaner, a trade in which he was highly skilled. He managed several dry cleaning plants and was owner of some in Idaho and Utah. His great love was always to hunt and fish, which he did until his health would no longer permit such activities. His parents; wife, Betty; daughter, Jan; six brothers and six sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Michael (Carrie) Fannin, Jeffrey (Trish) Fannin, Mary Dawn (Ken) Wade; sisters, Della Johnson, Nona Banks; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Tues. Nov 4, 2003, 1 p.m. Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd, Bluffdale, UT. Milo's body will lie in state at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale, Tues. 8 a.m.-12 noon. Friends are welcome to call and pay their respects during those hours. The family wishes to extend special thanks to staff and residents of Cross-lands Rehab and Healthcare Center for their years of care and kindness to Milo.
